Phi Alpha Theta is a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication, and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. We seek to bring students, teachers, and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways.
All events held by our chapter are open to any undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in historical study, regardless of whether that student is a member of the national organization. PAT is exploring the idea of creating a History Club on campus. One of our goals is to apply for official recognition as a campus club some time in the spring of 2018 or fall 2019. Students who are interested in a history club are encouraged to attend PAT events to help us coordinate efforts to apply for club status and to offer ideas for publicizing both PAT and club events and to recruit future members.
Our regular meeting times are currently bi-weekly on Wednesdays at 5:30pm in Chavez Room 406A. Please see the “Upcoming Events” page for more details about our forthcoming meetings and outings. We hope to see you there!
